Our Story. Our Foundation.

Built on Generations of Experience.

Lytton & Forbus Construction was built on a simple mission: to create exceptional homes, deliver quality craftsmanship and build lasting relationships throughout our community.

While Lytton Enterprises LLC was officially founded in 2005, the Lytton family’s roots in Florida construction reach back decades. With more than 75 years of combined builder experience and a history of building homes in Citrus County dating to the 1970s, construction is more than a business for our family - it is a legacy.

Today, Lytton & Forbus Construction carries that tradition forward, combining generations of knowledge and craftsmanship with modern building practices, thoughtful design and the personal service our clients have come to expect.

We approach every project with the same care and attention we would give our own homes. Integrity, transparency and excellence guide everything we do; from the first conversation and design decisions through construction and the final walkthrough. Our clients can expect honest communication, fair pricing and a commitment to delivering work that stands the test of time.

Our experienced team combines proven craftsmanship with modern building techniques, energy-efficient solutions and thoughtful design to create homes and spaces that are both beautiful and built to last. Even as the company continues to evolve, one thing remains unchanged: our commitment to our customers and the community we call home.

At Lytton & Forbus Construction, you’re more than a client. You’re part of a building tradition that has served Citrus County families for generations.

A Legacy Built to Last.

Edwin H. Lytton (1926–2015) was a World War II veteran and longtime Florida contractor whose career helped establish a foundation of craftsmanship and professionalism that continues through the family today.

In 1971, as Florida established its statewide contractor licensing system.  At the time, the state regulatory framework for builders was organized under the newly formed Construction Industry Licensing Board, what would later become the Department of Business Regulation (DBR) (now known as the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR)).  Edwin was not only a "founding father" of the licensing system, he was also among the earliest contractors licensed through it.  He was issued Florida contractor License No. 15 - a distinction that reflects just how far back the Lytton family’s history in Florida construction reaches.

After relocating to Florida, Edwin spent decades in the construction industry, building residential and commercial properties and passing his knowledge of the trade to the generations that followed.

By the 1970s, the Lytton family was building homes in Citrus County. That experience and tradition eventually led to the formation of Lytton Enterprises LLC in 2005, continuing the family’s commitment to quality construction and personal service.

Today, that story enters its next chapter as Lytton & Forbus Construction, with Colton Forbus joining the company as a partner and helping carry the Lytton family’s building legacy into the future.

Colton is no stranger to the construction industry or to Lytton Construction. Before officially joining the company in 2020, he owned and operated his own business in property maintenance and worked alongside Lytton Construction as a subcontractor. His knowledge of the industry, hands-on experience and strong work ethic made him a natural fit for the team.

Shortly after joining the company, Colton was promoted to Superintendent, taking on a key role in overseeing projects and day-to-day construction operations. In 2026, he was named Vice President, marking an important step in both his leadership journey and the future of the company.

Now, as a partner in Lytton & Forbus Construction, Colton represents the next generation of leadership - honoring the craftsmanship, integrity and relationships the company was built on while helping guide it forward for years to come.

The name may have evolved, but the principles behind it have not: craftsmanship, integrity, hard work and a commitment to building something that lasts.

More than 75 years of combined builder experience. Generations of craftsmanship. One commitment to Citrus County.
